This Kailash Mansarovar Heli Tour 8N 9D starts from Kathmandu, with an hour flight to Nepalgunj. From where there will be another 1-hour flight to Simikot. From Simikot, a 15 mins. helicopter flight will take us to Hilsa which is closer to the northwestern (Nepal-Tibet) border at the corner. A walk for 10 mins. and cross the border clearing the immigration and customs formalities, then a road-drive journey begins heading for Taklakot. Acclimatization at Purang for a day then continue to the holy Lake Mansarovar. A highly revered lake called Lake Mansarovar holds serenely its purity consecrating the devotees, pilgrims, believers- all visitors who take a dip into this Lake at 4550m, one of the highest altitude lakes. The Kora (circumambulation) of this lake takes around two hours walk but is done in a vehicle mostly to expedite the trip and get enough rest at this stunning place.
Next, the drive towards northwest to Darchen, also known as the Base Camp of Mt. Kailash, 30 mins. drive up towards northwest takes to Yama Dwar, in Tibetan- Tarboche. This is the Gateway to the Mt. Kailash and the trek starts from here. With 2-days night halts at Dira Phuk and Zuthul Phuk, on the third, there will be a pick up from the ending point at the base near Darchen, followed by a return drive to Taklakot via the same route to Hilsa border. From Hilsa, we fly back to Simikot via helicopter and via airplane from Simikot to Nepalgunj and Kathmandu.
